Description:  Scarce doubleweight inscribed and signed portrait from the late thirties.  A skilled dramatic actress, George did her best work in several memorable films for Warner Bros. during the studio's hard-boiled heyday.  Films include Valiant is the Word for Carrie (1936), Madame X (1937), The Roaring Twenties (1939), John Huston's evergreen classic The Maltese Falcon (1941), and The Hard Way (1942).  Her untimely death from illness occurred in 1954, when she was only fifty.  (Vintage original photograph; true vintage autograph)
