A skilled dramatic actress, George did her best work in several memorable films for Warner Bros. during the studio's hard-boiled heyday. Films include Valiant is the Word for Carrie (1936), Madame X (1937), The Roaring Twenties (1939), John Huston's evergreen classic The Maltese Falcon (1941), and The Hard Way (1942).
