Description:  Very scarce doubleweight candid portrait from the forties, inscribed and signed to radio announcer Charles S. Buck.  One of the great voices of the radio era, Tremayne (1913-2003) did memorable work in films and TV as well, with roles in several science fiction cult classics.  Films include The War of the Worlds (1953), The Monolith Monsters (1957), The Monster of Piedras Blancas (1959), Alfred Hitchcock's North by Northwest (1959), The Angry Red Planet (1959), The Slime People (1963), and Billy Wilder's The Fortune Cookie (1966).  He was one of the leads of the well-remembered Saturday morning kiddie series, Shazam!
