Gründgens gave a memorable performance as a leather-jacketed gangland boss in Fritz Lang's 1931 classic, M. The 1936 novel Mephisto, and its Oscar-winning 1981 film adaptation, are loosely based on his life story. (Vintage item circa fifties)
