Subject:  DeWitt Jennings

Size:  Approximately 7x10.5 overall

Description:  Slightly over 3.75x5.75 portrait from the early twentieth century affixed to backing as was often the custom of photographic studios, inscribed, signed twice, and dated by the memorable stage and screen character actor.  Often cast as policemen and authority figures, Jennings appeared in over 150 films from the silent period to 1937, the year of his death at sixty-five.  Films include the Lon Chaney drama Flesh and Blood (1922), Tod Browning's The Mystic (1925), Exit Smiling (1926), Two Arabian Knights (1927), Roland West's The Bat Whispers (1930), Caught Plastered (1931), the horror classic Mystery of the Wax Museum (1933), Charlie Chan's Courage (1934), and Mutiny on the Bounty (1935).  Nearly nonexistent in signed material.  (Vintage item dated 1905)
