Description:  Rare inscribed and signed doubleweight portrait circa 1945.  Ridgely (1909-1968), a memorable Warner Bros. character actor, had one of his finest roles in Howard Hawks' film noir classic, The Big Sleep (1946).  He appeared in a number of forties classics including They Died with Their Boots On (1941), The Man Who Came to Dinner (1942), Frank Capra's Arsenic and Old Lace (1943), Hawks' Air Force (1943), Destination Tokyo (1943), and Possessed (1947).  (Vintage original photograph; true vintage autograph)
