Description:  Exceptionally rare signed doubleweight portrait.  Middleton (1907-1984) was the first actor to play Superman, having donned the fabled costume at the New York World's Fair in 1940.  Films include Lady from Louisiana (1941), Hurricane Smith (1941), Jubilee Trail (1954), and 1776 (1942).  He also appeared on TV's Jackie Gleason Show, Ironside, Helter Skelter, and M*A*S*H.  (Vintage original photograph; true vintage autograph)
