Description: Doubleweight portrait from the twenties, inscribed and signed. Afflicted with acromegaly like horror legend Rondo Hatton, Sutherland was cast as heavies and sinister types in several silent and early sound films including the Harold Lloyd comedy Grandma's Boy (1922), The Red Lily (1924), The Beloved Rogue (1927), the Laurel and Hardy short The Hoose-Gow (1929), and the Bela Lugosi horror classic Chandu the Magician (1932). He died of a heart attack at the early age of fifty-two in 1934. Nearly nonexistent in signed material. (Vintage original photograph; true vintage photograph)
