Description: Scarce card inscribed, signed, and dated by the British playwright, novelist, and screenwriter (1896-1975). Sherriff is best known for the play Journey's End (1929), based on his experiences as a World War I soldier. Its great success led to an outstanding career in film, with his superb scripts for a number of classics including James Whale's The Invisible Man (1933), Goodbye, Mr. Chips (1939), Odd Man Out (1945), and The Dam Busters (1955).
