Description: Rare card inscribed and signed by the renowned author of thrillers (1897-1977). Wheatley's best-known work , The Devil Rides Out (1934; made into the classic 1968 Hammer horror film), was inspired by his acquaintanceship with notorious occultist Aleister Crowley. His deep friendship with fabled M.I.5 spymaster Maxwell Knight led to his popular Gregory Sallust series of espionage novels. Wheatley, Crowley, and Knight socialized and were of like mind: Wheatley and Crowley also worked for M.I.5, and both Wheatley and Knight were immersed in the occult under Crowley's aegis.
